PLEASANT RIDGE — Pine Grove Programs plans to offer the 2023 Upland Game Bird Hunt, free for veterans and first responders, from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 17, at Pine Grove Lodge, 823 Ridge Road.
The event will include a day of hunting upland game birds, partridge and woodcock, over dogs. The lodge has a number of guides/dog handlers who have volunteered various hunting dogs for this hunt, according to a news release from Paul E. Violette of Pine Grove Programs.
Participants must have a current Maine hunting license. They should bring their own shotgun and shot shells. Hunters must wear two items of hunter orange clothing, to include a hat.
On arrival, participants will be treated to breakfast refreshments, a safety briefing and guide and dog assignments. Lunch will be provided midday.
Participants will be drawn by random lottery from the registrants to fill the 16 available slots.
