BETHEL — The Maine Mineral and Gem Museum at 99 Main St. plans to host two free events on Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 23-24.
On Sept. 23, a mineral identification day will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Research technologist and experimental chemist Al Falster will provide free visual identification of three specimens.
Specimens should be less than 30 pounds, according to a news release from the museum.
On Sunday, Sept. 24, admission to museum is free for all Maine residents. Proof of residency is either a Maine driver’s license or Real ID.
The museum will be open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
