Auburn’s Age-Friendly Community Committee is organizing a clothing donation drive for those in need in the community.
New, unused clothing and cash donations can be dropped off between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. weekdays at the Auburn Senior Community Center, near Auburn Recreation at 48 Pettengill Park.
Alternatively, residents can contact Ward 5 City Councilor Leroy Walker at [email protected] to schedule drop-offs.
Warm outerwear, rain gear, sweatshirts, pants, socks, hats, blankets and other protective items of clothing are greatly needed.
The committee plans to distribute the collected items from 2-4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 7 at the Auburn Public Library, 49 Spring St. Anyone in need can attend this event and pick up clothing and other essential items. Public transportation to the library is available via citylink bus.
For more information, contact Liz Allen with the City of Auburn at 207-333-6601 ext. 2070 or [email protected].

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
