LEWISTON — A Winthrop woman was indicted by an Androscoggin County grand jury Tuesday in connection with a hit-and-run crash in June that left a Lewiston man seriously injured.
Jeena Garant, 38, was indicted on charges of criminal driving while intoxicated, leaving the scene of a crash with serious injury, driving to endanger and reckless conduct with a dangerous weapon.
The charges were handed up in connection with the June 16 crash near 855 Lisbon St. that left 35-year-old Bruce Martin with serious injuries. He was taken to a Portland hospital.
The driver, it was reported shortly after the crash, had fled the scene.
Garant turned herself in at the Lewiston police station later that evening. She remains free pending a court hearing.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
