AUGUSTA – Dolores A. Hayes, 82, passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 4, 2023, at Augusta Rehabilitation in Augusta surrounded by her family.

She was born on Feb. 6, 1941, in Bath the daughter of Charles Sr., and Alberta Dorr.

Dolores started her working career at Gardiner Savings Institution and later became a regional manager for Sarah Coventry Jewelry, Contempo Fashion Jewelry and Park Lane Jewelry. Dolores owned and operated The Fashion Plate clothing store in Augusta. A few years later she was employed at the Secretary of State’s Office and later retired from the Department of Transportation.

Dolores enjoyed reading, crewel embroidery, writing (including a published short story) and cherished time with her family and friends.

She was predeceased by her parents, son-in law Gary Cummings, and her great grand daughter Jennifer Mailloux. Dolores is survived by her husband of 22 years Dr. Ronald Hayes of Augusta, daughters Lorica Cummings of Bath, Danita Mailloux and husband Arthur of Richmond, Julie Shields and her husband Weldon Jr., of Richmond, brother Charles Dorr Jr., and wife Judy of Boothbay, seven grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, she would want you to spread your hugs and smiles generously.

There will be a small intimate family graveside service in Dresden.
