More than 2,200 customers in coastal Maine counties were without power early Saturday night as a result of a rainstorm with high winds.

Central Maine Power Co. reported 2,151 customers in Cumberland, Knox and Lincoln counties were without electrical service at 8:30 p.m. Versant Power reported 60 customers without power in the Hancock County towns of Brooksville, Tremont and Surry.

Weather authorities warned that outages would likely mount as high winds were expected to increase and continue into Sunday.
