BELGRADE — Hammond Lumber Co. has been named one of the Best Places to Work in Maine for the third year in a row and a Best Company to Work For in New Hampshire for the first time.
These statewide survey and award programs are designed to identify, recognize and honor the best places of employment.
The 2023 Maine list includes 134 companies in three size categories: 41 small winners (15-49 employees), 68 medium winners (50-249 employees), and 27 large winners (250-plus employees). Hammond has over 900 employees across Maine and New Hampshire. Companies from across the state entered the two-part process to determine the Best Places to Work in Maine.
Consideration is give to a company’s workplace policies, practices and demographics, worth approximately 25% of the total evaluation. The second part consists of an employee survey that counts for 75% of the total. The combined scores determined the top companies and the final rankings.
Best Companies Group managed the overall process. The Best Places to Work in Maine awards program is a project of the Maine State Council of the Society for Human Resource Management and Best Companies Group, in partnership with BridgeTower Media.
The New Hampshire list has 25 companies. Surveys were administered by The Employee Engagement Group.
