Roland Boutros Assaf

AUGUSTA – Roland Boutros Assaf, 73, of Augusta passed away in his home surrounded by his family on Oct. 19, 2023. Roland was born in Aaramoun, Lebanon, Nov. 1, 1949, to Rosanne and Boutros Assaf, the second oldest of four children.

Roland was preceded in death by his father, Boutros and mother Rosanne, sister Marie, sister Michlene, and brother Tony.

Roland had a career as a banker in Beirut before the start of the war then worked as a crane operator for the Port of Beirut until the war began and the Assaf family home was destroyed. A few years later, Roland and his family made the decision to leave their country, their roots and other family members for a new safer beginning in the US. Roland was able to acclimate and provide for his family, from operating a gas station in Brockton, Mass., to working as a door frame contractor at JR Metal frames here in Augusta. Roland always showed his love through working hard and supporting his family.

He is survived by his five children: Rony Assaf, Pierre Assaf, Lordina Dixon, Mike Assaf, and Johnny Assaf, his grandchildren, Nadia, Antonio, Azabell, Niyemah, Gabrielle, Perry Jr., Tatyana, and Bentley, and many extended family members.

A Celebration of Life will begin at 11 a.m., at Plummer Funeral Home, 16 Pleasant St., Augusta on October 27, 2023. Reception to follow at the Augusta Country Club.
