Reprise Choral Ensemble plans to present its fall concert, “Planets, Stars and Airs of Space,” at 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 5, at Green Street United Methodist Church, 13 Green St. in Augusta.
Directed by Mary Elisabeth Rector, singers hail from three counties in central Maine. The concert title comes from a J.S. Bach chorale and the program features classical and classic choral music of the spheres. Composers include Gustav Holst, John Rutter, Irving Berlin and Jule Styne. Lyrics include poetry by Emily Dickinson, Oscar Wilde, Robert Frost and Bob Chilcott.
Reprise Choral Ensemble is a non profit organization and net proceeds are donated to central Maine visual and performing artists. Last spring’s concert, “All Shakespeare, All the Time” benefited the Recycled Shakespeare Company and Theatre at Monmouth’s youth education program.
Suggested donation at the door is $15; high school students and younger are free.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
