MONROE — An 86-year-old man was killed when a fire swept through his home on Clements Road in the Waldo County town of Monroe, the Maine Department of Public Safety said Monday.
The body of Alan Grover was found in the debris of the home Sunday evening and was taken to the state medical examiner’s office in Augusta, the Department of Public Safety said in a news release. The Monroe Fire Department responded to the call about 7:40 p.m.
Authorities said Grover lived alone in the home at 238 Clements Road. The road extends in a northeast direction from Swan Lake Avenue, also known as Route 141. It’s north of Swan Lake.
Investigators did not disclose the cause of the fire and said the matter remains under investigation.
Responding to the scene along with Monroe fire personnel were Maine State Police and firefighters from Brooks, Frankfort and Jackson.
