DAMARISCOTTA — The Skidompha Public Library plans to host an open house from 4-6 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 28, at 184 Main St.
Those who stop in can chat with board and staff, and have light refreshments.
The Tuesday following Black Friday and Cyber Monday has over the past 11 years come to be known as Giving Tuesday, a philanthropic companion to holiday shopping. This year, a major donor has pledged to match donations made to the library during the week of Giving Tuesday up to $5,000.
The vast majority of Skidompha’s funding comes from public support, making it a uniquely cooperative venture. The library’s ability to create programming, maintain collections, and provide services is a testament to the community’s dedication to robust public engagement.

Comments are not available on this story. Read more about why we allow commenting on some stories and not on others.
We believe it’s important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It’s a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
