Richard W. Kosma

SCARBOROUGH – Richard W. Kosma, 74, passed away peacefully at Gosnell Memorial Hospice House with his family by his side. He was born in Fairfield, Conn., on Jan. 1, 1949, the son of Howard and Marion (Johnson) Kosma.

Richard graduated with the Shelton High Schools class of 1968 (Connecticut). Richard was working at the Grand Union Grocery store when he eyed a beautiful lady, eating a peach. It was love at first sight; he married Patricia Lindsay Kosma. Soon afterwards, they located their family to Maine. Richard, Rich, became “Dick” when they moved to Maine. Rich worked for many years in the auto sales business, spending most of these years with O’Connor Motors. He also owned many Subway Sandwich shops in the Augusta area.

If you are wondering if you have ever met, clearly you have not, because you WOULD remember him. He had a gigantic personality; he was always the life of the party. His laughter was loud, and oh so contagious.

Richard is survived by his wife, Patricia; son, Lon Kosma of Farmingdale; daughter, Tara Kosma and her husband Joe Partlow, and Richard’s two grandsons, Roman and Gabriel Babineau all of Falmouth; brothers, Alfred Kosma (Susan) and Robert Kosma (Karen) all of Connecticut. He was predeceased by a sister Maureen Kosma.

Patricia, Lon, and Tara would like to invite family and friends to stop by The Maine House in Hallowell, Sunday, Nov. 26, 2023, from 1-4 p.m., to visit and share stories.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House 11 Hunnewell Road, Scarborough, ME 04074 or online at http://www.hospiceofsouthernmaine.org
