A Hartland man has been identified by authorities as the man killed Wednesday in connection with a reported fight in St. Albans.
Harvey Elderkin, 57, of Hartland, died as a result of the incident in the Somerset County town, according to Shannon Moss, spokesperson for the Maine Department of Public Safety. Moss said no further information would be released yet, including the cause of death. The Maine State Police is investigating the death.
The Pittsfield Police Department responded to calls made on Hartland Road about a fight involving another man, who was not at the scene when officers arrived.
The man’s body is currently undergoing an autopsy to identify the cause of death. Moss previously said authorities do not believe there is any danger to the public.
