Belfast Maskers has scheduled open auditions for its first play of the 2024 season, “Proof,” by David Auburn.
There are two opportunities to audition at the Basil Burwell Community Theater, 17 Court St. in Belfast; the first is set for 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, Dec. 9, and the second is from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 13.
Stephanie Natale will cast and direct the production.
“A play about math and madness, ‘Proof’ is a meaty script about the depths of human experience in the darkest areas of the brain — and the lightest areas of the heart,” said Natale, according to a news release from Belfast Maskers.
Performances of “Proof” will run six times from March 8-17 at the Belfast Maskers’ theater on Court Street.
“We are looking for dedicated character actors with strong memorization skills. They must be available for a read through before the winter holidays, and then be prepared for a short, intensive rehearsal process beginning in the middle of February,” said Natale.
Auditions will consist of cold readings from the script. All four roles are available: Robert (age 50-60), Catherine (age 25), Claire (age 29), and Hal (age 28.)
Those with questions can emailed to Natale at [email protected].
