Brenda J. Collins
SKOWHEGAN – Brenda J. Collins, 75, of Skowhegan, passed away peacefully on Monday Nov. 20, 2023 at her home surrounded by family.
She was born Sept. 19, 1948 in Fort Fairfield, the daughter of Russell Closson and Geraldine (Bilodeau) Closson. She attended schools in both Easton and Skowhegan, graduating from East Millinocket in 1966. She married Samuel Collins on July 15, 1966.
Brenda retired from Wal-Mart in 2021 after 26 years of service. Prior to Wal-Mart, she worked at the Somerset Motor Lodge and the Shoe Shop.
She was a skilled cribbage player and an avid reader; she enjoyed crossword puzzles and adored her grandchildren. She loved baked goods but held a special fondness for potatoes in any form. She was known for her sharp sense of humor, generosity, and strong work ethic.
She is survived by a daughter, Samantha Haff and her husband, Andrew, of Boxborough Mass.; grandchildren Kaitlyn and Brittany Iafrate, Alexis, Lucy and Samuel Haff; brothers Lawrence Closson of Bangor and David Closson of Kenduskeag; as well as several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Samuel Collins; daughter, Lisa Iafrate; twin sister, Barbara Bolster, and brother, Thomas Closson.
A graveside service will be held in the spring at E. Skowhegan Cemetery, Oak Pond Road, Skowhegan.
