Downeast Trout Unlimited plans to host a hybrid presentation by Bob Bechtold at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 20.
Bechtold, who will share his experience building a bamboo fly rod, will cover each step of the process.

Bechtold was introduced to fishing before entering grade school by his grandmother. He began fly fishing in the ’80s. A life member of TU, he is active in Downeast Trout Unlimited chapter 305, according to a news release from Tammy Packie with Downeast Trout Unlimited.
He continues to expand his fly-fishing skills, and this past year he completed a goal on his bucket list to build a bamboo fly rod.
The hybrid meeting will be held in person at the Moore Community Center, 125 State St. in Ellsworth, and via Zoom. To register, visit facebook.com/DowneastTU.
For more information, contact Tammy Packie at [email protected] or 207-288-5442, or visit downeasttu.org or Downeast TU on Facebook.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
