BROOKFIELD, Conn. – George V. Van Deventer died Nov. 18, 2023. Born in Newark, N.J. in 1935, he was the son of George W. and Bertha E. (Hulsman) Van Deventer.

A truck driver, a dairy farmer, a poet, among other vocations, George was a “peasant poet” and “undocumented intellectual.”

He was predeceased by his wife, Arlene, of 43 years. George is survived by his daughter, Susan; granddaughter, Mia.
