SALEM — Jyllian Riendeau scored 12 of her game-high 16 points in the second quarter to lead Maine Central Institute past Mt. Abram 47-39 in girls basketball action Monday night.
After being outscored 15-9 in the opening quarter, MCI (5-8) won the second quarter to take a 26-22 lead into halftime. Aleah Harris added 10 points, Kaleigh Dunton scored nine and Skyla Dean had eight for the Huskies.
Three Mt. Abram (5-6) players tallied nine points: Bailea Haines, Abby McCarty and Sakari Savage.
OLD ORCHARD BEACH 50, KENTS HILL 31: Cate Clark made three 3-pointers and scored a career-high 26 points as the Seagulls won in Old Orchard Beach.
Tessa Ferguson chipped in 13 points for OOB (5-6) and Sarah Davis had nine.
Lucy McDonald led Kents Hill (0-10) with 12 points.
WINTHROP 43, TRAIP 22: Madeline Wagner’s 16 points paced the Ramblers in their win in Winthrop.
Kylee Mansir added seven points for Winthrop (8-3), while Caroline Corgan and Ella Rice contributed five apiece.
Marlee Mickle led Traip (0-12) with 10 points, which included a pair of 3-pointers.
MADISON 60, OAK HILL 13: The undefeated Bulldogs took control early with a 27-point first quarter and cruised to a win in Madison.
Liz Kelley led Madison (11-0) with 11 points, while Raegan Cowen and Alison Griffeth contributed 10 points each.
Haylee Harris was Oak Hill’s (1-10) top scorer with four points.
FOREST HILLS 50, CARRABEC 49: The Tigers came back from a six-point halftime deficit to win a tight contest in Jackman.
Allie Dunning made four 3-pointers as part of a 19-point effort to lead Forest Hills (9-3). Kylie Yu added 12 points for the Tigers.
Molly Hay had a game-high 24 points for Carrabec (7-6).
BOYS BASKETBALL
CARRABEC 74, FOREST HILLS 63: The Cobras outscored the Tigers 20-7 in the third quarter en route to the win in Jackman.
Desmond Robinson led the way for Carrabec (8-5) with 22 points. Pete Vicneire added 17 points for the Cobras, and Jackson Newton poured in 14.
Braidan Welch made six 3-pointers as part of a game-high 28-point effort for Forest Hills (8-5).
RICHMOND 77, BUCKFIELD 39: Hunter Mason led the Bobcats as they remained undefeated with a win in Buckfield.
Mason hit two 3-pointers and scored 21 points for Richmond (11-0) while Kenny Mecham also made a pair of 3s and finished with 18 points. Wyatt Cassidy added 13 points, highlighted by three treys.
Buckfield’s (4-8) Gaven Parsons led all scorers with 27 points.
