Robert Dana Brann

NAPLES – Robert Dana Brann was born on Oct. 5, 1954, and passed away on Jan. 13, 2024.

Whether you referred to him as Bob, Bobby, Uncle Bob, Pépère, or Dad, you can tell a story about him that will make you smile. He may have supported you through a tough time, made you a friggin’ awesome meal, took you out on his boat, spent time sitting with you and just talking, or made you the best cocktail. Bob was a people person who spent his life surrounded by those he loved and who loved him back.

Bob, son of Laurette and Richard Brann, grew up on Sand Hill in Augusta. He and his siblings, Linda (Soule), Dick, Lorna (Botts), Gail (Martin) spent their days roaming around the neighborhood or out to camp on Three Mile Pond. Bob was always the entrepreneur, starting at age 13 when he worked at Bilodeau Motors, as a salesman at Augusta Lumber, through his several partnerships, and eventually through starting RDB Construction in 1991. Bob’s business focus was always on honesty and integrity at a fair price. He was beloved and counted on by his many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Bob loved his toys. He could spend hours talking of the great deals he got on boats, cars, snowmobiles, you name it. As Uncle Henry’s gave way to Marketplace, he was always looking for a good deal. Adventures with Bob were always on the best, biggest, and fastest equipment. Many fond memories were made on trips to Eustis, the County, Aruba, or just cruising on Pépère’s boat.

Bob loved talking about his six sons and their families. Scott (Lynn, Nolen and Ella), Ryan (Connor and Addison), and Travis (Sophie, Taylor and Grant), who he raised with Betty (Bell), were his pride and joy. Michael (Alannah), Kevin (Lewena, Rowan and Éala), and Daniel (Kim, James and Owen) became family after his marriage to Debbie in 2008. He also adored his mother-in-law Carmela Hewitt. His time with his grandkids was priceless and he spared no expense when entertaining his family. He and Debbie built a beautiful “retirement” home on Brandy Pond and the neighborhood grounds were where he loved helping others, spending his days snow blowing, picking up leaves, perfecting his lawn, or maybe even sharing a cocktail and a campfire. He will be greatly missed.

A celebration of life will be held at Martindale Country Club in Auburn, Saturday Feb. 24, from 2-5 p.m.

The family would like to thank the CICU at Maine Medical Center for their outstanding care and trying “rocket fuel” medicines to care for him. He would not have had it any other way.
