AUGUSTA — Mark Carrell, local taxpayer advocate for Maine, plans to host a presentation on preparedness for filing 2023 federal income taxes, and awareness and avoidance of tax scams.
It will take place at 6 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 1, in the Community Meeting Room of Lithgow Library, 45 Winthrop St.
Carrell’s office is part of the Taxpayer Advocate Service, an independent office within the IRS. TAS reports directly to Congress through annual reports and Congressional testimony.
The local office works directly with individuals and businesses suffering a hardship and in need of assistance in dealing with the IRS.
This program is free and open to all.
