Augusta Center for Health & Rehabilitation is set to host a Groundhog Day Celebration on Friday, Feb. 2.
“Kennebec Kenny” the groundhog is preparing to emerge from hibernation out of his burrow at 10:15 a.m. Feb. 2, the rough midway point between the winter solstice and the spring equinox. His burrow is located in the center’s courtyard at 188 Eastern Ave.
Last year, Kennebec Kenny’s prediction was spot on, according to a news release from Keith Smith at the center.

Visitors can join residents at the celebration immediately following his prediction for brunch treats and coffee.
For more information, contact Smith, director of life enrichment, at [email protected] or 207-623-6849.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
