Lewiston Public Library is set to host a children’s program, Sadie’s Fiber Arts Club, at 3:30 p.m. starting Wednesday, Feb. 7, in the Children’s Department at 200 Lisbon St.
For the Feb. 7 project, the club will be designing tote bags. Children can learn about textiles and how to use fabric paint and printing tools to design their own unique canvas tote bags to take home, according to a news release from the library.
The group will next meet Feb. 27 for ink dyeing fabric. Children can learn about fabric dyeing methods and try some out for themselves by using plastic cups, permanent markers, rubbing alcohol, and cotton fabric to create bright and colorful tie-dye designs.
Sadie’s Fiber Arts Club will take place every first and third Wednesday of each month. This program is free, all supplies will be provided, and there is no registration.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
