I am a Protestant Christian and a scientist (not a Christian Scientist) whose maternal family was immersed in Catholicism. I was fascinated by “A Catholic take on evil, flooding and its aftermath” by Ryan Bilodeau (Jan. 24).

I have a hard time imagining natural phenomena/disasters as evil. Natural phenomena are just that: natural. Part of God’s creation, yes, but following natural laws. We just have to deal with it. I agree that our faith may help us do that.
