River Arts in Damariscotta invites artists to submit items for the upcoming show, “Night and Day.”
Submissions, open to members and non-members alike, include all mediums and styles. People can embrace abstract concepts, explore the emotional contrasts within human experiences or challenge traditional notions of light and dark. Or they may wish to focus on either day or night in the singular, according to a news release from Heather Greene at River Arts.

Artists may submit one piece with a maximum size of 48 inches in any direction (including frame), or they may submit two pieces no larger than 24 inches in any direction (including frame). The member entry fee is $15 and nonmember fee is $30.
The deadline for entry is 4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 24. Notification of accepted works will be published at riverartsme.org on Wednesday, Feb. 28. For more information, visit that website or call the gallery at 207-563-6868.

The juror for “Night & Day” will be Maine artist Phoebe Bly. The former owner of Granite Gallery in Tenants Harbor, Bly studied at Portland School of Art and is represented by Caldbeck Gallery in Rockland.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
