PITTSFIELD – Meriem Prosser, 94, went to be with the Lord Feb. 9, 2024. She was born Jan. 16, 1930 in Somerville, Mass., a daughter of John and Olive (Hosford) Murphy.
She graduated from Somerville High School and attended one year of school to become a dental assistant. Meriem has been most recently an active member of the Celebrate Jesus Church of God in Pittsfield. She served on the church finance committee, played the organ, a member of the prayer team, and also assisted the pastor by reading scripture during services.
She married Wendell Prosser on Dec. 18, 1954, and he predeceased her on April 14, 2017. She was also predeceased by her brother Leonard Murphy.
Meriem is survived by her children, Douglas Murphy, Patricia Murphy, Sharon Hogan and Bonnie Drost; a brother Donald Murphy; 11 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 21 at Crosby & Neal, 117 Main Street, Newport, with Pastor Tom Duperry officiating. Spring burial will be in the Pittsfield Village Cemetery.
