Charles Rufus Bolstridge
SKOWHEGAN – Charles Rufus Bolstridge, 85, went home to be with the Lord on Feb. 10, 2024, at Cedar Ridge Nursing Center in Skowhegan. Charles was born on Nov. 13, 1938, in Fort Fairfield to Charles and Gladys (Watson). He was the youngest of six children.
He graduated from Madison Area High School in 1957. He was active in 4H and The Future Farmers of America. After high school, he served in the United States Army as a Heavy Equipment Operator in Korea and Greenland. After the service, Charles married Helene (Wentworth) Bolstridge in 1965. They raised their family in Cornville Maine in a home he built himself. He worked as a Woodsman until retirement. During his retirement years, Charles was employed part-time doing maintenance and custodial work for the Skowhegan Library, Town Motel and at the Belmont Motel.
Charles was predeceased by his wife, Helene (Wentworth) Bolstridge. He is survived by three children, Charles and PJ Bolstridge of Brainerd, Minn., Todd and Kellie (Bolstridge) Smith of Hooksett, N.H., Bryan and Penny Bolstridge of Windsor Maine. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren; and 12 great grandchildren. Charles was a long-time member of the Skowhegan Church of the Nazarene. His faith in Jesus Christ and his love for his family were the most important things in his life.
A Celebration of Life will be held on May 21 at 1 p.m. at Smart and Edwards Funeral Home 183 Madison Ave. Skowhegan ME.
