LEWISTON — Police responded early Sunday to gunfire aimed at an apartment at a multiunit building on Pine Street in Lewiston, according to officials.
Multiple gunshots were reported shortly before 5 a.m. in the area near 189 Pine St., according to Lt. Derrick St. Laurent of the Lewiston Police Department.
No one was injured, St. Laurent said in a statement released to the news media.
Police found several shell casings at the scene and believe the suspect fled in a vehicle after the shooting, according to St. Laurent.
“This does not appear to be a random incident, as the shooting was directed toward a specific apartment,” he said.
Officials continued to investigate the gunfire later Sunday and asked that anyone with information about the incident or shooter contact Lewiston police at 207-513-3001.
