Ruth V. (McPherson) Bradley

AUGUSTA – Ruth V. (McPherson) Bradley, passed away on Feb. 14, 2024, at the age of 100, at the Gray Birch long Term Care in Augusta. Ruth was born in Manchester, Maine, on Nov. 19, 1923, the eldest of nine children of Harold and Alice (Cole) McPherson.

She graduated from Hallowell High School in 1941 and attended Gates Business College in Augusta. She was employed by the Maine Petroleum Association, a division of The American Institute, Washington, D.C., from February 1942 until she retired in 1985.

On Sept. 16, 1949, she married William H. Bradley, Jr. and they enjoyed 52 years together before his death on Oct. 2, 2001. Together they enjoyed snowmobiling, dancing, cards with their close friends, and fishing both summer and winter at their camp in Tomhegan Cove on Moosehead Lake in Rockwood, Maine.

Ruth is survived by her brother, John McPherson, sisters, Eleanor Trask, Linda McPherson, Alice Perry and her husband Eric, and sister-in-law, Joan McPherson; along with many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. She will be greatly missed by all.

In addition to her husband and parents, Ruth was predeceased by her brother Harry McPherson and his wife Cynthia, brother Ernest McPherson, sister Marjorie Jacobs and her husband Fred, sister Mary Cunnion and her husband James, sister-in-law Patricia McPherson, and brother-in-law Robert Trask; nieces Kathy Jacobs and Nancy Hammon and nephew Mark Jacobs.

The family would like to especially thank Cedric and Bobby-Joe for their wonderful care of Ruth.

A Graveside Service will be held in the Hallowell Cemetery in the Spring.
