Harold “Buck” H. Buckmore
BELFAST – Harold “Buck” H. Buckmore, 83, of Belfast died Sunday, Feb. 18, 2024, at Breakwater Commons in Rockland.
Born in South Gardiner on July 26, 1940, the son of Harry and Beatrice (Vannah) Buckmore.
Buck was born and raised in South Gardiner, attending Gardiner schools. After proudly serving 20 years and retiring from the United States Air Force, he settled down in Gardiner with his wife and they raised their four children. Buck worked for many years at Pine State Trading in Augusta.
In his spare time, he loved to bowl, and though he came close, never got that elusive 300 game. He also loved to golf and was fortunate enough to record three holes in one.
He was predeceased by his parents; one sister, Gwen; three brothers, Richard, Leon, and Robert; and two great-granddaughters, Kylie, and Kaelynn.
Harold is survived by his wife of 61 years, Terry Buckmore; one son, Steve Buckmore, three daughters, Christine McMannamy, Cheryl Nadeau, and Julie Kelly; 12 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Buck’s visiting hours will be from 4 to 6 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 29, at Staples Funeral Home, 53 Brunswick Ave., Gardiner, with a military burial at the Central Maine Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, 163 Mt. Vernon Rd., Augusta, on Friday, March 1, at 12 p.m.
