A friend suggested that America needs a foreign invasion, so we can stop fighting each other. But aren’t Republicans screaming that what’s happening on the border is an invasion?

Senators from both parties came up with a solid bill to deal with that invasion. President Biden said he would sign the bill and implement border restrictions that very day. But Republican House Speaker Mike Johnson declares it “dead on arrival” at the behest of Donald Trump. After all, it might help Biden’s chances if the law passed and the “invasion” was stopped.

So which is it? Either it isn’t an invasion or even a foreign invasion won’t bring us together.

A sad, sad state of affairs when we will prolong a serious problem to make the president look bad.
