Norman Dickey
SKOWHEGAN – Norman Dickey, 84, died peacefully at home on March 1, 2024, with his loving wife by his side.
Norman Dickey was the epitome of the “Self-Made Man,” though he had a great deal of assistance, encouragement, and input from the love of his life, Patricia Dickey. Norman and Pat married on March 5, 1960, while Norman was serving in the U.S. Air Force in England. Born in Clinton on July 24, 1939, Norman grew up in what now might be called difficult circumstances. Norman overcame all obstacles and succeeded at the highest levels through hard work, Pat’s encouragement, and his association with The Prudential.
After retirement from The Prudential, Norman embarked on an entrepreneurial venture of which he had long dreamed. The result was “Stomin’ Nomin’s Delicious Dogs,” a fabulously successful business that Norman ran on North Avenue in Skowhegan for 12 years.
Norman Dickey is survived by his wife of 63 years Patricia Dickey; daughter, Lesa with her husband Martin; grandchildren Graeme O’Connell with his wife Adrien Wilkie and Laurel O’Connell with her husband Ian Pollock; and great-grandchildren Lesa Jane, Ursula Maria, and Thomas Arthur.
A Celebration of Life will be held Thursday, Aug. 22 at Norman’s Tractor Barn on North Avenue from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.
