Myrl Perry

SKOWHEGAN – Myrl Perry, 89, of Skowhegan, passed away at home Saturday, March 2, 2024, after a short battle with cancer. She was born Jan. 28, 1935, in Madison, Maine, a daughter of Lionel Adams and Ella Bigelow.

Myrl was a hard worker who worked many shoe factories and as an Avon lady, just to put food on the table and a roof over her children’s heads.

She had three “kitties” which she simply adored! They were her life, along with Roy Franzose, whom she lived with for 39 years and who passed away 10-years ago.

She was predeceased by her parents, Lionel and Ella Adams, husband Everette Elmer Perry, sister Crystal and husband Albert True, sister Maybelle and husband Leonard (Buster) Violette, brother-in-law Carleton Dawes, and brother-in-law Alvin Gilman.

Mom also used to knit and crochet afghans for her family. And she spent many years as the Avon Lady at her place of employment and around her neighborhood. She also enjoyed puzzles, until the “kitties “ arrived. Lol!! Mom also enjoyed going to her Wednesday breakfasts with her Adams family, along with the rides afterwards from her son Rick.

Mom is survived by her children, Norman Perry of New York, Richard Perry of Waterville, Bonnie Perry of Skowhegan, and Ginny Manzo and husband Mike, of Fairfield.

She is also survived by her sisters, Gladys McKenney, and husband Sherwood, of Madison, Shirley Dawes of East Madison, and Mildred Gilman of Norridgewock. She is also survived by her grandchildren Jamie Knight, of Skowhegan, Joshua Knight, of Winslow, Nichole Manzo and wife Brenna of New Hampshire, Bryan Manzo and wife Andrea of Benton, and Caleb Perry of Syracuse, N.Y.

She is also survived by her great-grandchildren, Anthony Knight of Brewer, Alex Twigg of Moscow, Donovan Knight stationed in Alaska, Summer Knight of Winslow, Bryce and Lucas Manzo of Benton. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Big shout out to Jamie Knight, her granddaughter, for all the help in keeping Mom comfortable, couldn’t have done it without her, along with Maine General Hospice’s nurses and aides.

There will be a Celebration of Life Saturday, April 20, 2024, at 11 a.m. – 3 p.m., at the American Legion Hall on route 201, Waterville Road, Skowhegan.

There will be a Graveside service later in the spring, in Evergreen Cemetery, Solon, with a date and time to be announced.

Arrangements are under the care and direction of Giberson Funeral Home and Cremation Services. To leave a condolence for the family and to view the online obituary, please visit http://www.gibersonfuneralhome.com.
