Joyce Mary Longley

THE FORKS PLANTATION – Joyce Mary Longley, 76, passed away peacefully on March 12, 2024, after a brief illness, surrounded by family. She was born on Oct. 23, 1947, the daughter of Helena (Kasperowicz) and Carleton Grant. She graduated from Waterville Senior High School class of 1965.

After graduation Joyce worked for Hathaway Shirt Company, owned an In-home Daycare, was Co-owner of Longley Studios, and worked at Magic Falls Rafting Company, one of her most memorable jobs where she worked for 15-plus years. She was also the Town Clerk and Treasurer for The Forks, and The Forks Fish and Game Association Treasurer. Joyce officially retired in 2021. She was very dedicated to her town; she loved the place she called home. Joyce enjoyed sharing town gossip with everyone she was associated with. She had a passion for reading; she created her own personal library through her lifetime collecting thousands of books. She enjoyed knitting and making puzzles in her spare time. Joyce especially enjoyed the bond she had with her granddaughter Kaitlyn and great granddaughter Lillian.

Joyce was predeceased by her parents; brother, Donald Clark; sister, Carlene Grant; and special friend Harold Goggin. She is survived by three children and their spouses, Andrea and Tim Williams of Sidney, Chris and Renee Longley of Oakland, Nathan and JeyRose Longley of Tampa, Fla.; grandchildren, Kaitlyn Longley and fiancé Dylan Tillson, Thomas Weeks-Williams, Chantel Plummer and husband Zac, Christopher Longley and fiancé Taylor Dawson, Brianna Williams, Maria Baga and husband Joemel Damondamon: three great grandchildren, Jeffrey and Jameson Plummer, Lillian Tillson, and one great grandson on the way; a sister, Nancy Dineen; a brother Roland Clark; best friends, John and Pam Cyr; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

The family would like to give special thanks to the nurses and doctors at MaineGeneral Augusta Critical Care Unit for their care, compassion, and support. They worked diligently to keep her comfortable during her short stay.

At Joyce’s request, there will be no visiting hours or funeral service, a private celebration of life will take place at the family camp in The Forks at a later date.
