Richard G. Fairbrother
MOUNTAIN HOME, Ark. – Richard G. Fairbrother passed away in Mountain Home, Ark. on March 2, 2024 at the age of 88 years old with his daughters by his side. He was born in Augusta to Charles Fairbrother and Ora Louise Fairbrother (Blake).
Richard attended Cony High School where he met and married his wife Sondra. They were married for 67 years. He was a Navy veteran of the Korean War and went to college on the G.I. Bill attending the University of Maine where he obtained his civil engineering degree.
Richard spent his career working for the Federal Highway Administration, with many years as Division Administrator, which took him and his family to many different states through the years. Wonderful friendships were made during these moves, with many still enduring today. His passion was music and being an audiophile. He also loved animals, art, food, pubs with handcrafted beer, and British humor. Maine was always in his heart and there was a longing to return.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Sondra J. Fairbrother; and two of his children, Lynne G. Fairbrother and Mark V. Fairbrother.
He is survived by two of his daughters, Brenda Fairbrother and Laurie Fulmer (Ben) of Mountain Home, Ark.; and his brother, Robert Fairbrother (Barbara) of Augusta; his nephews T.J. Leavitt and Brett Fairbrother, and his nieces Shannon Pulsifer and Nicole Leavitt-Wadleigh.
