GrowSmart Maine plans to host a webinar, “Creating Community: Farming and Housing,” from 4:30-6 p.m. Tuesday, March 26.
This webinar will address how local communities can address this dual challenge: how can Maine’s communities promote farm viability and farmland protection through municipal planning, while also enabling housing and growth?
GrowSmart Maine will speak with three “farmer-planners” who have been at the frontlines of helping their communities navigate these issues. These include State Rep. Kathy Shaw of Auburn, David Asmussen of Bowdoinham, and Jeremy Kasten of Berwick.
This webinar, organized by GrowSmart Maine in collaboration with Maine Farmland Trust, is sponsored by Kennebec Saving Bank.
The webinar link will be provided upon registration.
The cost is $25 for a non-member registration and free for a member registration.
If an individual, business or organization is already a member of GrowSmart, they can email Amanda Vermillion at [email protected] for a code to register for free.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
You can read more here about our commenting policy and terms of use. More information is also found on our FAQs.
