Members of the University of Maine at Augusta artist faculty plan to present a free workshop for people with an interest in guitar, bass, or drums at 9, 10, 11 a.m. and noon on Saturday, March 30, in the Fine Arts Building at the University of Maine at Augusta, 46 University Drive.
Whether as a student, performer, enthusiast, or just curious — one can join a workshop conducted by five members of the artist faculty will each present four music workshops, 45 minutes each. Attendees may stay with one instructor the entire morning or go to different workshops.
Choose from Rock Guitar with Scott Hughes, Jazz Guitar with Peter Herman, Classical and Folk Guitar with Jeff Rojo, String Bass and Bass Guitar with Duane Edwards, and Drum Set with Jackson Cromwell.
No experience or musical background is necessary to attend. Participants may engage in a hands-on experience or just listen and learn. There will have a few instruments available to borrow for each workshop but not enough for everyone, so people are encouraged to bring their own guitars, basses and drumsticks. There will be a few drum sets for the drum seminars.
This event is free and open to high school students, college students, UMA faculty and staff, and the public.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
