
Elizabeth “Betty” Ann Carr
AUGUSTA – Elizabeth “Betty” Ann Carr, 84, passed away after a brief illness on Friday, March 22, 2024, at Gray Birch Rehabilitation and Long-Term Care. She was born in Augusta on Feb. 16, 1940, to the late William and Marion (Dudley) Hillier. Betty resided in Augusta for most of her life but raised her children in Richmond and spent the last 24 years at Arch Beta Apartments.
She graduated from Cony High School, class of 1958. Immediately following high school, Betty worked at Depositors Trust before becoming an office worker at Hazard Shoe. She worked here for several years and worked at Etonic Shoe as well.
Betty took pride in volunteering at the Arch Beta apartments. In her free time, she loved gardening and taking care of her plants. She was a sports fanatic and deeply enjoyed watching NASCAR races as well as the Boston Red Sox and Celtics games.
In addition to her parents, Betty was predeceased by the father of her children, Thomas Ashford Carr; and her first son.
She leaves behind her two children, Frank Ronald Carr, and Rhonda Lynn Carr and her soon-to-be husband, Dana Miles Hinckley; her two grandsons, Caleb Edward, and Jacob Thomas; as well as a niece, two nephews; and close friends.
Betty’s family would like to send a special thank you to the staff at Gray Birch and Arch Beta Apartments for providing such great care for her over the years.
Betty’s visitation will be held on Thursday, March 28 from 10-11 a.m. at Knowlton and Hewins Funeral Home, 1 Church St., Augusta, with a funeral service to follow.
