WATERVILLE — Thomas College students won top awards in this year’s Society for the Advancement of Management International Business Conference, held this month in Orlando, Florida.
The Thomas College team placed second as a team and third place for case study presentation. Three students — Preston Moody, Jade Crowell and Addison Landon — made the Knowledge Bowl finals, with Landon finishing in second place. Landon was also recognized as the top individual student performer in the competitions, coached by Thomas College professors Dr. Rick Saucier and Dr. Jono Anzalone.
The full Thomas College team of Daniel Brewer of Casco, Tanner Herrick of Norway, Crowell of Greene, Moody of Winslow and Landon of Bangor, competed in categories consisting of a written case study, a case study presentation, a knowledge bowl, an extemporaneous speech, and a business pitch.
“The competitions were especially challenging this year as the number of colleges submitting student teams were at an all-time high for the conference,” said Saucier. “Many SAM representatives commented to me how exceptional they considered our students. Thomas College is being considered as highly regarded in the business management academic circles.”
This is the seventh year in a row that Thomas College students have placed in the SAM competition.
