CHELSEA — A fire destroyed a garage, car and camper Sunday afternoon at 109 S. Dondero Road in Chelsea, officials said.

Firefighters from Chelsea were dispatched to the blaze at about 2:20 p.m. They had the flames extinguished by about 5 p.m., according to officials.
The fire destroyed a 16-by-40-foot garage and a car and camper inside the garage.
A man who lived in the 30-foot camper was not home when the fire broke out.
“All of his belongings are gone,” Chief Shawn Ramage of Chelsea Fire Department said.
The cause of the fire was unknown, but Ramage said it was not considered suspicious. He said the man who lived at the property had electricity and solar power.
The most recent records in Chelsea list John Chevalier as the property’s owner.
Ramage said it was difficult for firefighters to get to the fire because the blaze had caused electrical wires to fall and block the road, which is a dead end.
Firefighters from Gardiner, Pittston, Randolph, Togus, Vassalboro and West Gardiner also responded to the fire.
