WATERVILLE — The Children’s Discovery Museum is nearing its fundraising goal after many years of planning and fundraising.
During March, the museum completed a $15,000 challenge match, set by Bill and Vicki Mitchell. Now, the organization has announced a new unique challenge. A major donor has pledged $200,000 to finish the museum’s capital campaign if 300 new members join between now and Sept. 1.
This match initiative represents an important piece of the puzzle towards completing the roughly $2 million campaign. The museum has launched a membership drive this spring, encouraging families to join the Children’s Discovery Museum family.
The membership drive will culminate in a membership drive open house celebration on Saturday, June 15, including a sneak peek of the finished exhibit hall.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
