Winslow High School has announced its top 10 seniors for the Class of 2024, listed in alphabetical order.
Bianca Akoa is the daughter of Megan McKeen of Vassalboro. She has been a member of the drama club for all four years and is president of the Winslow chapter of the International Thespian Society.
She received the All-Tech Lighting Award at the one-act competition in 2023. Akoa is a member of the Olympia Snowe Women’s Leadership Institute and the National Honor Society, and she played lacrosse during her junior year.
Akoa plans to attend Boston University, majoring in theatre production and design.
Hannah Daigneault is the daughter of Kelly and Jeff Daigneault of Winslow. In 2023, she was a class marshal at the seniors’ graduation ceremony. She is president of the class of 2024 and is a member of the Student Senate and the National Honor Society.
She played varsity field hockey, ice hockey, lacrosse, and softball, and received the KVAC All-Academic award for hockey and field hockey. This past fall, she was the senior leader for the field hockey team, which won the Class-C North Sportsmanship Award in 2023. She also served as captain for the ice hockey team and the softball team.
Daigneault plans to attend the University of Maine at Augusta, majoring in dental hygiene.
Uliana Fournier is the daughter of Ted and Tetyana Fournier of Fairfield. She is president of the 4-H Club, has taken part in drama and tennis, and is co-president of the National Honor Society.
She received the Daughters of the American Revolution Award, the Fredrick Douglass and Susan B. Anthony Award, and the Maine Principals Association Award.
Fournier plans to attend the University of Southern Maine, where she will major in political science.
Alexis Gibson is the daughter of Lindsey DuVall of Winslow. She is a member of the National Honor Society, and she was the recipient of the Student of the Month award in February. She played varsity soccer and received the Coaches’ Award.
Gibson plans to attend the University of Maine at Augusta, majoring in veterinary technology.
Mason Lee is the son of Jamie and Hilary Lee of Winslow. He was the top recruiter for the golf team at Winslow High School and a key advocate for reviving the program. He served as a senior captain for the team. Lee played basketball during his freshman and sophomore years.
He volunteered with the Lions Club and was a videographer for the Winslow boosters for fall and winter sports. He is also a member of the National Honor Society.
Lee plans to attend the University of Maine, majoring in financial economics.
William Parent is the son of the late Valerie Parent, stepfather Bruce Belanger of Winslow, and David Parent of the Philippines. He played football and baseball all four years of high school. Parent was also a four-year member of the band, and he helped with the Unified Basketball team during his senior year.
He received the Student of the Month award in April, and was the recipient of the Saint Michael’s Award and the Coach Bolduc Coaches Award for Football.
Parent plans to attend the University of Maine, studying business marketing with a minor in finance.
Justin Rogers is the son of Ken and Aimee Rogers of Winslow. He has been a member of the math team and played soccer, basketball, cross country, and varsity indoor and outdoor track. He is a three-time state champion in track, KVAC winner, and captain, and he also earned all-academic honors. In addition, he is a member of the National Honor Society.
Rogers plans to major in biochemistry, but he is still deciding which school he will attend this fall.
Elizabeth Schmitt is the daughter of Tara Fredericks and husband, Mike, of Winslow, and Robert Schmitt and wife, Lisa Rae, of Ariel, Pennsylvania.
Schmitt has been a dancer with Stage Presence for Dancers for many years. In addition, she is the class of 2024 vice president and a member of the National Honor Society, and she has been a member of the Student Senate.
She received the Saint Michael’s Award and was also selected as the Student of the Month award in April. In 2023, she served as a class marshal at the graduation ceremony.
Schmitt plans to attend the University of New England, majoring in pre-pharmacy.
John Thorpe is the son of Thomas and Kimberly Thorpe of Winslow. He received a Student of the Month award and is a member of the National Honor Society.
Thorpe plans to attend the University of Maine, majoring in mechanical engineering.
Brooke Vincent is the daughter of Phoebe Dodge of Winslow. She was a member of the Oceanside GSA.
She recently won the Gold Medal in SkillsUSA for Computer Programming in Maine, and placed sixth in the SkillsUSA national computer programming competition.
Vincent plans to attend Colby College, where she will major in computer science.
