RICHMOND — The Richmond softball team swept a doubleheader from Vinalhaven on Saturday, taking the first game 7-6 and the nightcap 18-3.
In game one, the Bobcats (8-6) scored five runs in the third and fourth innings to rally from a 6-2 deficit.
Sam Leathers had two hits for Richmond, while teammate Breonna Dufresne scored twice. Lila Viselli and Izzy Stewart combined to throw a two-hitter.
In game two, Payton Cray tossed a one-hitter and struck out three batters in a game shorted to four innings by the mercy rule. At the plate, she had two hits, drove in three runs and scored three.
Teammate Breonna Dufresne had three hits and scored three runs, and Izzy Stewart had two hits, two runs and four RBIs.
Vinalhaven fell to 4-8.
