Local Veterans organizations and their auxiliaries plan to hold wreath-laying services on Monday, May 27, at select war memorials in the area.
Jay VFW Post 3335, American Veterans Post 33 and American Legion Post 10 will have members participating.
The ceremony at each location will include a color guard, wreath laying, prayers and a firing squad.
All veterans, public service departments and community members are welcome to attend. The ceremony will kick off at 7:15 a.m. in Fayette and then progress to Livermore and the Livermore Falls Bridge.
The scheduled events include:
• Fayette War Memorial 7:15 a.m. (2589 Main St., Fayette Town Office area);
• Livermore Brettuns War Memorial 7:45 a.m. (Federal Road and Church St.); and
• Livermore Falls Memorial Bridge 8:10 a.m. (Route 4, crossing the Androscoggin River).
A community parade is set to start at 10 a.m., and the color guard and firing squad will be marching and presenting honors at the Jay War Memorial Square, Richardson Cemetery and Union Park.
The VFW has planned a chicken barbecue at 12:30 p.m.
The cost is $12. Meals must be ordered by Friday, May 24, by calling 207-897-2122.
