WASHINGTON — Michael Gaffney, president of Richmond, Maine-based Seawicks Candle Company, was recognized by the Connected Commerce Council (3C) as a Congressional Champion for his advocacy on Capitol Hill.
Gaffney met recently with officials from the offices of Sen. Angus King and Rep. Chellie Pingree to explain the vital role digital tools play in his business. He also voiced concern about policy proposals that could hurt small businesses like his by making such tools more expensive and less effective, according to a news release.
Gaffney’s visit coincided with National Small Business Week. He was one of more than 20 small business leaders who wentto Washington from across the country to meet with representatives from dozens of U.S. Congressional offices.
