JACKMAN — Addison Chaisson and Sean Mulhall, both students at Forest Hills High School, are state winners for each of their submissions in the VFW’s annual Patriotic Art Contest.
Maine students were invited by their local VFW/auxiliary to participate in either the two- or three-dimensional category.
The students were recognized as local winners in November, and went on to win at the district level (Jackman is part of District 5, which includes Dexter, Jackman, Fairfield, Farmington, Madison, and Newport).

Both students were successful and advanced to the state level, where both were announced as the winner in their respective categories.
The students’ artwork is being sent to be judged at the national level, and final results will be delivered in July.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
