Daniel Guimond

AUGUSTA – Daniel Guimond, 66, passed into eternal rest on May 7, 2024, at Tufts Hospital in Boston, Mass. Born in Augusta on Feb. 16, 1958, he was the cherished son of Laurier and Vivien Tondreau Guimond.

A loyal and devoted husband, Daniel leaves behind his beloved wife of 38 years, Gladys, and their loving daughter Danielle, along with her partner Shawn Potter. He was a supportive brother to Patrick Guimond and his wife Tina and their son Joshua; and to Vic Guimond, his wife Julie, and their sons Marcus and Anthony.

A proud graduate of Cony High School class of 1976, Daniel furthered his education by obtaining Associate Degrees in Criminal Justice and Fire Science from the University of Maine and SMCC, respectively.

Daniel’s commendable career was dedicated to public service within the City of Augusta, where he began as a police dispatcher in 1979. He later joined the fire department, culminating in his retirement as a respected battalion chief in 2013. His dedication to community service continued post-retirement as he worked as a driver for O’Connor Motors.

An outdoorsman at heart, Daniel found joy and solace in hunting, fishing, camping, and tending to his garden. His commitment to fellowship was evident through his life membership at Le Club Calumet and the Augusta Elks Club.

The Guimond family will host a celebration of Daniel’s life at a date to be determined. This gathering will serve to commemorate Daniel’s enduring spirit, his unwavering dedication to his loved ones, and the indelible mark he left on his community.
