ORONO — Four Directions has launched the second round of the Native American Artisan Grant Program.
This initiative is dedicated to supporting Native artisans, with a focus on enhancing the social and economic conditions among the Wabanaki people of Maine. The grant program provides critical working capital to Native artisans, enabling them to expand and sustain their businesses.
Eligible artisans can receive cash grants of up to $2,000. These funds are designed to significantly impact the business growth of Native artisans by meeting their essential working capital needs.
In addition to the financial support, Four Directions encourages artisans to take advantage of the available technical assistance and financial capability counseling. These services are aimed at helping artisans build personal credit and improve budgeting skills, thus fostering long-term financial stability and business success.
The grant application deadline is Friday, May 31. Applicants can find more information and apply through fourdirectionsmaine.org.
This funding is made possible with the support of the Maine Arts Commission.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
