FARMINGTON — The Bonney Woods Corporation is set to host a Love Maine Trails Month event from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, June 8, to do a spring clean-up of the trails and orient people to Peter’s Adopt-A-Trail program.
Tasks include removing brush, cleaning out drainage pipes and cutting back canopy, using hand tools only. People should bring appropriate tools like loppers and garden rakes. Gloves, eye and ear protection, bug spray also is recommended.
The BWC is starting an adopt-a-trail program, an idea of Peter Broderick, who recently passed away. People should inform the BWC if they have a favorite trail that they could commit to walking once a month, keeping clear of trash and brush, clearing any ditches and water areas, identify any needs that require further work that would involve more than hand tools to fix, address any signage needs, identify an invasive species, and other similar tasks.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
