
Frederick “Fred” L. Pushard Sr.
GARDINER – Frederick “Fred” L. Pushard, Sr., 96, of Gardiner, died on Friday, May 24, 2024, at the Clover Manor in Auburn. He was born in Gardiner on March 20, 1928, the son of Oscar and Marion (Spencer) Pushard.
Fred lived to the ripe old lady age of ninety-six! Fred had a very good life. He was a family person, living on Tacoma Lake where he loved having family gatherings, building fires, he loved loud music, dancing, and a competitive game of horseshoes.
He, along with his wife, Cora, owned a mom-and-pop store “Freds cash market” with a propane gas business on Brunswick Road in Gardiner for 45 years. He also worked serving the town of Gardiner and the surrounding towns in a public capacity, serving as a Fireman for many years, a Police officer and even working for the town garage plowing the streets of Gardiner.
He was predeceased by his parents Oscar Pushard and Marion Soboleski; sisters Betty Jean and Louise Tibbetts, his brother Oscar (Chum) Pushard; wife Cora Pushard; son Kenneth Trask, daughter Corena Anderson, and son Frederick Pushard Jr.
Fred is survived by his brother, Frank Pushard in Virginia; his children, Frederica Pushard Shorey and her family Eric Baker, Samantha Edwards, Victoria Brennan, Jake Casey, and Alic Shorey, including their spouses; and 12 grandchildren, Warren (Tiger) and Linda Pushard their boys Tyler, Logan, Lucas Pushard and one grandchild. Cindy and Leroy Merry, and daughter Stephanie Downes and two grandchildren. Dana Pushard and children, Danielle Emery and Dana Pushard Jr., and one grandchild. Linda Pushard and children Peter and Jamie Pushard, their spouses and one grandchild. Dolores McKenzie and her children, Rhonda Haskel, Grace Powers, Crystal Hurd, their spouses, and five grandchildren; along with four generations of grandchildren. and many nieces and nephews. He will be greatly missed by his family who loved him dearly.
Calling hours will be from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, June 7, at Staples Funeral Home, 53 Brunswick Ave. in Gardiner. A Fireman’s service will be held on Saturday, June 8, at 2:30 p.m., at the Litchfield Plains cemetery, Plain Roads, in Litchfield for anyone who would like to attend.
