Dorothy Marion Durgin

BROOKLYN, N.Y. – Dorothy Marion Durgin died March 4, 2024 in her home in Brooklyn, N.Y. at the age of 94.

She was born March 30, 1929 to Arthur and Gladys (Rogers) Durgin who lived on Neck Road, West Gardiner. Growing up she attended a one room school house and after graduating from Gardiner High School in 1948 she moved to Portland and in time, to Massachusetts.

Dorothy is survived by her daughter, Christine Durgin-Sellitto; four grandchildren, Catherina Webster Littlefield, Deane Webster II, Keylo Eager and Vincent N. Sellitto.

She was predeceased by five brothers and five sisters and is survived by two sisters, Gloria Pratt and Josephine Coombs; along with various great-grandchildren; cousins; nephews and nieces.

After retiring from MASS ELECTRIC, Dorothy moved to Brooklyn, N.Y. where she kept busy volunteering as a poll worker, bowling on a league, and taking writing classes at The New School in Manhattan. She loved her family and friends and stayed in touch with them all. She was sharp right up to the end. She will be missed.

A Celebration of Life took place in Brooklyn, N.Y. in March. There will be a graveside memorial at the Howard Cemetery, on the corner of Neck Road and West Road in West Gardiner, June 8 at 1 p.m.
